Staffordshire bull terrier or 'Staffy'.

Characteristics:

The Staffordshire bull terrier is typically a small to medium size dog with short smooth hair. 

Staffordshire bull terriers are stocky, strong and muscular with a great athletic ability.

Males weigh around 28 – 38 pounds and Females 24 – 34 pounds.

Average life span is 10 – 15 years.  

Temperament:

Despite common beliefs Staffordshire bull terriers are not good guard dogs this is due to their love of it’s human companion.

The Staffordshire bull terrier is a reliable family dog and as such love contact with adults and children alike, adopting the name Nanny dog in the early 19th Century due to the breeds gentleness towards children.

The Staffordshire bull terrier thrives well in a close family unit. 
Staffies adore the family environment as they have lots of love and affection to share making them an ideal addition to any family.

Some Staffordshire bull terriers can react when challenged by another dog, therefore a suitable collar and lead should be used when out doors.
